DDD's Michelle Kendall Named as Louisiana Healthy Communities Coalition Co-Chair
Michelle Kendall, the DDD's Community Health & Farmers Market Manager, has recently been named as a new co-chair at the Louisiana Healthy Communities Coalition.
The LHCC is a group that networks grassroots organizations to improve health across Louisiana. The coalition provides statewide leadership, resources, and training, communications, mini-grants, and hosts an annual summit. Most recently, the LHCC issued a series of recommendations to the governor’s Health Equity Task Force, which formed in the face of COVID-19 and examined racial disparities amplified by the disease. Kendall is joined by Jaime Cyprian, regional manager with the Louisiana Campaign for Tobacco-Free Living.
In addition to her role at the DDD, Michelle is also the Policy Coordinator at the Louisiana Cancer Prevention & Control Programs (LCP) at the LSU Health New Orleans School of Public Health. She strives daily to create healthy environments for her community, and is looking forward to this new challenge.
"We need systems that work & support all people, policies that invest in people, and environments that support access to transportation, healthy food, jobs, education, and healthcare," said Kendall. "I’m honored to be leading the Louisiana Healthy Communities Coalition with the wise Jaime Cyprian, in hopes that we can continue to improve on these very important areas in our state by fostering collaborative partnerships across sectors, investing in community-driven projects, and serving as a platform for advocacy."
"Michelle is a passionate change-maker in our community," said DDD Executive Director Chelsea Tallo Little. "She is an asset to our staff at the DDD, and we are proud that her passion has propelled her to a leadership role with the LHCC."
