Hammond DDD Gives Free Cleaning Kits to Downtown Businesses
The Hammond Downtown Development District secured a $1,330 grant through the Main Street Recovery Grant administered through Louisiana Main Street. Once the money was secured, the staff reached out to business owners via our newsletter, inquiring about which project would most benefit them. Options allowed in the grant were cleaning supplies or a new promotional video for Downtown. The results were split. So the Board of Directors decided to spend the grant funds on free cleaning supplies, but also work on a new promotional video in the coming months.
We're thankful for great community partners like Home Depot who donated a large portion of the supplies for our businesses.

Once supplies were purchased, City of Hammond trustees helped us unload and sort all the products. With another donation from Home Depot of small packing boxes, we created 100 cleaning supply boxes containing: bleach, gloves, gel & liquid hand sanitizer, reusable spray bottles, and medical-grade disinfectant. Board Members Bruce O'Krepki, Elsbet Hollywood and Cassie Ragan volunteered to help with the supply pick days that took place on July 1st and 2nd.

After giving businesses about 2 weeks to pick up cleaning supplies, we allowed business owners to receive a second cleaning kit on a first-come, first-serve basis. Overall, the grant funds and our partners made a significant impact on helping Downtown business owners.
We're proud to serve our community and provide cleaning supply kits to our businesses.
