Each year the Hammond Downtown Development District presents its annual Hot August Night. With 21 years under its belt, Hot August Night in Downtown Hammond has been the “must attend” event for people from across the region. The event happens each year on a Friday in August in the heart of Downtown Hammond, Louisiana. With approximately 50 places to shop, eat and play; we guarantee guests will be delighted by what they find in Downtown Hammond. From amazing retail sales, breath-taking art exhibits, outstanding wine tastings, events for kids and live music from local artists, Hot August Night is an eventful night for everyone to beat the August Heat. The event is accompanied by the traditional Southeastern Louisiana University athletics pep rally bringing even more spirit to Downtown. Join us in Friday August 25th for a Hot August Night you’ll never forget!

Love Hot August Night! We do too! We know there is so much happening this Friday, August 25th that it can be a little overwhelming. We’ve got you covered here is a list of EVERYTHING (that we know of) happening for this Friday, rain or shine!
- Meet us at 6:00 at the DDD Stage! Lt. Governer Billy Nungesser and Mayor Pete Panepinto will kick off Hot August Night followed by Lionpawlooza

Craft beer walk
1. Cooling Stations:
We know its hot! Keep yourself cool and stay safe! This year we was many booths giving out free water bottles including Krewe of Omega on S. Cypress Street, Hammond Harley- Davidson in the car show, Keller Williams and Coca-Cola at the DDD stage and a few more! For moms with babies, First Baptist Church is setting up a baby station with a 22 foot RV for mothers to nurse, change diapers and cool off. This station will be in Art Alley! Cypress Pointe Hospital will provide a first aid station at the DDD office for anyone needing medical attention and will also be giving out free water. There are also designated hand washing stations throughout the event. A special shout out to Cypress Pointe Hospital for provide over 40 volunteers for Hot August Night! If you need some help search for a volunteer!
2. Craft Beer Walk:
Buy your wristband, tasting glass, and map at the DDD office for just $20! We have 18 participating businesses with events and activities unique to their establishment! We’re showcasing beers from Gnarly Barley, Covington Brewhouse, Urban South, Tin Roof, and Port Orleans Brewery! Participants must be 21 or older. Finish at least 10 stops on your punch card and bring your card back to the DDD to receive a free lemonade card from Raising Cane’s (while supplies last) and enter to win a Raising Cane’s gift basket!
3. Wine Walk:
Buy your wristband, tasting glass, and map at the DDD office for just $20! We have 20 participating businesses with events and activities unique to their establishment! We’re showcasing wines from all over the world including California, France, Italy, Spain and more! Participants must be 21 or older. Finish at least 10 stops on your punch card and bring your card back to the DDD to receive a free lemonade card from Raising Cane’s (while supplies last) and enter to win a Raising Cane’s gift basket!
DDD Stage: Todd O’Neill 8-10:30
He’s comin’ home!! Country music singer/songwriter sensation Todd O’Neill will be jammin’ out on the DDD Stage from 8-10:30pm!! Bring your lawn chairs and prepare to listen to this homegrown rising star! The DDD stage will be complete with food and beer booths, cooling stations by Keller Williams and Coca-Cola, Gnarly Barely serving samples and much more!
La Carreta Stage: Groovy 7 6-9pm.
Get your dancing shoes on, and party with this New Orleans party band! La Carreta will also have Port Orleans Brewery pouring samples of their newest beer Dorada and much more!
Cate Street Seafood Station Stage: Delta Revelry
Get your dose of rock-n-roll and soul music from 7-9pm!! This stage is in the Hot August Night family zone and will be wild with entertainment for all ages. See the Family Zone section below for more details!
If you want to escape the heat but still listen to live music stop in any restaurant Downtown! Almost all restaurants and bars will have live music including: Mariner’s, Blackened Brew, Tope La, Taco’s and Beer, Red, White & Brew, Benny’s and more!

6. Kid Zone:
Balloons, face painting, games and prizes, and MORE! Your child will have loads of fun, indoors and out! The LCDC will host free admission for up to 100 people! Patrons can enjoy 45 intervals starting at 6pm! We’ve got the information you need to know. To get into the LCDC you must have a wristband. Don’t expect to walk right up and be granted admission. Stop by the LCDC early and get a wristband for your family with a time to attend. While admission is free, LCDC is a non-profit and we encourage you to make a donation to keep this venue serving our community. Go enjoy the event and come back at your appointed time.

The Southeastern Lions will be kicking off our party at the DDD Stage at 6pm! Show your green and gold pride by mingling with athletes and enjoying the fun they have to offer! The dance and cheer teams will perform, Gnarly Barely owners will give a special shout, athletics will be signing posters and the bookstore will be on site! Lion Up!!
9. Car show:
Exotic cars, antique cars, and the hottest jeeps and motorcycles! Need we say more!
Hammond Harley-Davidson will provide water as a cooling station and lots of motorcycles on display.
Don’t forget to visit TARC in the car show and buy a raffle ticket to win a golf cart!
10. Open Mic:
The Tangi Library wants to see your talents! Stop by their open mic night from 5:30-8pm to show Hammond what you’ve got!
11. Krewe of Omega Block Party:
Visit Red, White, and Brew for the biggest dance party this side of the lake!
