New Hammond Tangi Meat Market Location
May 19, 2017, Kimberly and Ron Duplessis opened their new and improved Tangi Meat Market location in Hammond. With their first store thriving at their I-55 Springfield location, the Duplessis’ decided to open a second market in Hammond to make their business more even more marketable.
Originally a wholesale pork distributer, the Tangi Meat Market has been around since the 1960s and functioned as a slaughter house. A combination of trying times and Hurricane Katrina’s wrath drove the original meat market owners shut down shop in 2005. In 2012, the Duplessis’ reopened the Tangi Meat Market in their current Springfield location. Per customer requests, the Duplessis’ decided to expand the retail side of Tangi Meat Market to include beef, chicken and pork in 2014.
Kim Duplessis explained that personal service is how her business stands apart from typical grocery stores. Duplessis said, “When you walk in our store we greet you by saying, ‘Thanks for coming to Tangi Meat Market, how can I help you?’” Duplessis touched on her great selection of meats and how it is cut fresh daily.
The new Tangi Meat Market offers a variety of items besides freshly cut meat. They now offer paninis, muffalettas, salads, hummus and dessert that makes for a great lunch! Their new location’s hours will be Monday – Friday: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Saturday: 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. and they will be closed on Sundays.
