Hammond Regional Arts Center: Brews Arts

Hammond Regional Arts Center: Brews Arts

The Hammond Regional Arts Center is gearing up for its 9th annual Brews Arts Festival, and this year the HRAC is kicking it up a notch by “Brewing to the Nines.” The festival will take place in downtown Hammond at the Morrison Alley Parking Lot off North Cypress on Friday, Sept. 28 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Brews Arts Festival is a signature fundraiser of the HRAC, a non-profit organization founded in 1982 to support, promote and coordinate visual, performing and literary arts in Tangipahoa Parish and the surrounding areas. This annual tasting event is designed to support HRAC’s important work in the community while promoting an appreciation of craft beer. A ticket to the festival includes access to samples of beer from local craft brewers.

This year for our 9th annual Brews Arts Festival we’re exploring the art and craft of fine brewing along with celebrating the arts in our community. “’Brewing to the Nines’” will emphasize local breweries and signature selections from them with food pairings from local Hammond restaurants.

Each brewery will pair a signature crafted beer to a chef or restaurant-created sample tasting. This year’s Brews Arts Festival will feature only local breweries such as Gnarly Barley Brewing, Bayou Teche Brewing, Southern Craft Brewing Co., Tin Roof Brewing Company, and Low Road Brewing. Participating restaurants that will provide food pairings include Mojitos Bistro, Tacos & Beer Hammond, Our Mom's Restaurant & Bar, Le Saigon Hammond, and Unique Events by T Nichols. Stay tuned for more brewery and restaurants as they are announced.

Advanced ticket prices for Brews Arts Festival are $25 for HRAC members and $30 for non-members. Tickets prices increase $35 the day of the event. They can be purchased at the Arts Center during regular gallery hours of noon-6 p.m. Wednesday-Friday, or online with credit card or via PayPal at hammondarts.org/brews-arts-festival. Patrons must be 21 or older to purchase tickets and present a valid I.D. at the event. All proceeds go to benefit the HRAC.

In addition to promoting locally crafted beer, Brews Arts Festival will also feature live art demonstrations with several booths of artwork and crafts by local and regional artists and artisans on display for sale to the public.

While parents enjoy the festival, their children can enjoy an evening of fun and games at the Louisiana Children’s Discovery Center’s “Almost Sleep Over.” To reserve a spot, please call the LCDC at 985-340-9150.
