Schedule of Events:
Event registration: 8-11am at the Hammond Regional Arts Center
Chalking times: 8am-12pm
Awards: 1pm at the Hammond Farmers Market
Farmers Market: 8am-1pm
Pre-registration is required and spaces are limited. One space is not limited to one child. They may chalk indvidually or as a pair or group, however, only one pack of chalk will be given per space.
Parents/spectators: Feel free to bring chairs or umbrellas and get comfortable watching your kids create a masterpeice however, please remember Downtown Hammond is a play and WORK community. Do your best not to block pedestrain traffic.

DOWNTOWN HAMMOND’S FIRST EVER CHALK WALK.
The Hammond Downtown Development District and the Hammond Regional Arts Center are thrilled to announce the first ever FREE Downtown Chalk Walk. On Saturday, July 13th from 8:00am to 1:00pm, join us for this fun and artistic community event. Children ages 4 to 17 will create chalk masterpieces on a designated path through Downtown Hammond. Pre-registration is required and spaces are limited. One space is not limited to one child. They may chalk indvidually or as a pair or group, however, only one pack of chalk will be given per space. Feel free to bring additional supplies. The link to the registration can be found on both dddhammond.com and hammondarts.org, as well as the Facebook event page. Those that are 18+ can participate as a showcase artists with no judging. Spots for showcase artists are limited.
Once the Chalk Walk event is finished, the path will be published so that others can follow the art throughout Downtown! Participants will be judged and each category will receive a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place recognition. Other prizes and goodies will also be available. The awards ceremony will take place at 1:00pm at the Hammond Farmers Market.
This event is free, and parents are welcome to bring chairs and umbrellas to watch their children create! The Hammond Farmers Market will extend its hours until 1:00pm that day with live music. The morning of the event, kids should check in at the Hammond Regional Arts Center to receive their assigned spot, wristband, goodie bag and chalk. You can register any time between 8:00am and 11:00am. They will then be guided to their spot, and the chalking should be done by 12:00pm for judging. The DDD Master Plan charrette will also be held that morning for all public comments and ideas. Make sure you mark your calendars for July 13th when there will be lots happening in Downtown Hammond!
