9th Annual Free Book Festival
Tangipahoa Parish Library is holding its 9th Annual Free Book Festival on Saturday, October 13, 2018 from 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM at Hammond Branch Library located at 314 East Thomas St., Hammond, LA 70401.
This year’s book festival will have Literary Pep Rally theme inviting everyone to show their spirit for reading and libraries. All attendees will receive a Tangi Library grab bag to collect goodies from local vendors and booths. There will be free books, complimentary hamburgers and hotdogs, and exciting activities for children including an inflatable obstacle course, crafts and games, and a Petting Farm. The festival will also feature a nonperishable food drive to benefit the Tangi Food Pantry. Also, the winners of the My Library Card Design Contest will be revealed and honored at 10 AM.
“Our goal for the Tangi Library Free Book Festival is for everyone to have a great time, get free food, free information, a free library card, a free book and other goodies to take home without having to pay for a single thing,” says Library Director Barry Bradford. “It’s our way of highlighting the free services public libraries provide for everyone without charge. Businesses and organizations benefit from the event as well and have the opportunity to connect with the community.”
The Tangi Library Free Book Festival provides a fun atmosphere for everyone and has a variety of activities and vendors to interact with. Raising Canes, Community Coffee, and Eddie’s Frozen Custard will be handing out drinks and cool refreshments to go with the hotdogs and hamburgers. There will also be local authors discussing their latest works as well as local nonprofit organizations, sponsors, and volunteers that will be in attendance sharing information about some of the services they provide for the community.
