Hammond Farmers and Artisans Market partners with Greaux the Good's New Statewide Market Match Program.

Last Updated 6/30/2023

Starting Saturday, February 18 2023, Shoppers with low income will receive a dollar-for-dollar match for SNAP dollars they spend at the Hammond Artisans & Farmers Market. The Hammond Farmers Market is now one of seven partners in Greaux the Good's new statewide Market Match program.

Greaux the Good provides funding and administrative support to Louisiana farmers markets, farm stands, and other eligible entities to create or expand a Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and/or a Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) incentive program. The Hammond Farmers and Artisans Market’s EBT dollar-for-dollar match will cover all SNAP eligible products such as fresh fruits and vegetables, eggs, meat, honey, dairy, baked goods, and preserved foods. SNAP eligible products will be matched up to $20 per market visit.

The Hammond Farmers and Artisans Market is one of the few USDA-approved farmers market in the North Shore region which allows for the acceptance of SNAP benefits and SNAP Match. This partnership with Greaux the Good will be essential to assisting the over 29,000 residents in Tangipahoa Parish that are SNAP eligible.

Local farmers and food producers at the Hammond Farmers and Artisans Market are excited to see the impacts of this new program. Programs such as this help farmers sell their products while meeting the demand for locally grown fresh foods.

The Hammond Farmers Market is open every Saturday from 8AM to 12PM. Its location is the newly built Railroad Park located at 106 NW. Railroad Ave. in Downtown Hammond. The Hammond Farmers Market is a project of the Hammond Downtown Development District. For details on Market Match program specifications, please visit www.greauxthegoodla.org/partner-locations.
